One Free Course, Not Four

I guess it was inevitable.

Just as it happens every day, we had a new customer sign up for a free course this week — always nice to see a new face checking us out! But then moments later, for the first time, something unexpected happened.

The same person signed up for a second free course, using a different email address. Then a third free courses, with yet another email address, and then, a fourth one. All within about an hour, taking four one-hour courses at the same time? For free! That fourth one used her full name with perhaps her boyfriend’s email address, apparently he works in the concrete industry.

Just one free course

We offer just one free course to check us out and ask customers to pay for the rest, for any others they’d like to take. Pretty simple. This “prospective customer” figured out that by using different email addresses, she could cheat the system and get more than one. It’s not much different than stealing.

Look, we get it. Times are tough for many people and not everyone is thriving in the insurance industry. For those of you in a really tight spot, we wish you better days.

New capabilities make us stronger

And thanks for making our system stronger. Because of this person, who shall remain unnamed, we’re implementing all sorts of new checks for the people signing up for our free courses, in case they’re trying to cheat the system. There are a multitude of ways to implement a technical solution to what is ultimately a very human problem. We’re closing the loophole, so-to-speak. One free course will remain one free course, not four.

And by the way, your name needs to be accurate when you sign up in order for your Continuing Education Certificate to be valid. Yes, the free course issues a valid CE credit that can be used towards your license renewal.

Next time, ask for a coupon

We’re in business to educate our customers, pay the bills and turn a profit. Building continuing education courses for insurance is hard work. Offering a free course is something new for us and most people who sign up for a free one do end up buying a bundle of courses for CE credit based on however many they need for the renewal of their insurance license.

We’ve published 15 new courses in the past six months and have many more to come. All of these have been life insurance ce courses that in some cases are applicable to adjusters and general/property/casual insurance agents and brokers as well.

Periodically we offer coupons to customers to save some money when signing up. Our prices are already lower than our competitors, but occasionally even that is not enough. Rather than try to steal access to courses, we’d much rather receive a request via email, “Times are tough for me, could you please provide a coupon? In return I’ll tell my colleague about insurancelink.”

We have many customers who just love our service and the new courses that we’ve been publishing. If you take one of our free courses, we hope you’ll sign up too.
