Updating our Privacy Policy

Today we updated our Privacy Policy at insurancelink.ca, which had not changed materially in almost twenty years.

The changes made were relatively minor and reflect the nature of doing business in the modern world. More specifically, the changes we made cover the use of third-party services as a function of doing business online.

There are three areas where insurancelink.ca may need to share customer information with a trusted third party, so we wanted to explicitly state them so it’s clear:

  1. Financial transactions through a credit card processor. Today we use Stripe for this service. Information shared with them will include your name, email address and billing information. Every time you sign up with us it’s a one-time charge; we don’t have any recurring charges.
  2. Search advertising services. Today we use Google. Information shared could include your name and email address for the purpose of receiving advertising.
  3. Newsletter services. Today we don’t publish a newsletter but we’ve thought about adding one. Information shared could include your name and email address for the purpose of distributing the newsletter.

All three of the above third-parties would only use your information for the service we pay them for, whether it’s to process your credit card, show you an ad for insurancelink.ca or send you a newsletter should we decide to do that in the future.

We very much value privacy online and will never sell or rent your information to a third party for their own purposes. We dislike getting spam as much as you do! The nature of business online today is that we need companies like Stripe and Google to function.

As always if you have questions you can call or email us.
